Therefore, this paper deals with the voltage derivative ROCOV scheme to locate and detect DC faults. The algorithm is able to differentiate internal and external faults considerably fast. The proposed algorithm is analyzed in a HVDC grid with different fault case scenarios. Finally, the ROCOV protection thresholds are discussed.61930403enginfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessROCOV scheme for Fault Detection and Location in HVDC sytemsjournal article10.24084/repqj17.336DC faultDetectionHVDC GridLocationROCOVDC faultDetectionHVDC GridLocationROCOVRenewable Energy, Sustainability and the EnvironmentEnergy Engineering and Power TechnologyElectrical and Electronic EngineeringSDG 7 - Affordable and Clean EnergyFunding InfoThe authors thank the support from the Spanish Ministry of_x000D_Economy, Industry and Competitiveness (project_x000D_ENE2016-79145-R AEI/FEDER, UE) and GISEL research_x000D_group IT1083-16), as well as from the University of the_x000D_Basque Country UPV/EHU (research group funding_x000D_PPG17/23).The authors thank the support from the Spanish Ministry of_x000D_ Economy, Industry and Competitiveness (project_x000D_ ENE2016-79145-R AEI/FEDER, UE) and GISEL research_x000D_ group IT1083-16), as well as from the University of the_x000D_ Basque Country UPV/EHU (research group funding_x000D_ PPG17/23).http://www.scopus.com/inward/record.url?scp=85068761679&partnerID=8YFLogxK
