The aim of this paper is to present a novel approach when designing ADAS. The case study analysed will show how preliminary design deficiencies, related with acceptability and usability, are early detected. Furthermore, this paper also describes how ADAS can be initially designed within a virtual environment where driver-in-the-loop is possible, having positive impact on the final system driving safety requirements. The benefits of this study are shown on a simplified example based on forward collision warning system designed ad-hoc.enginfo:eu-repo/semantics/restrictedAccessNovel approach for designing adas - Case study: Forward collision warning with driver-in-the-loop under virtual driving environmentconference outputAdvanced driver assistance systems (ADAS)Driver-in-the-loop (DiTL)Driving simulatorPreventive safetyMechanical EngineeringComputer Networks and CommunicationsComputer Science ApplicationsElectrical and Electronic EngineeringArtificial IntelligenceTransportationAutomotive EngineeringControl and Systems EngineeringSDG 3 - Good Health and Well-beinghttp://www.scopus.com/inward/record.url?scp=84954543761&partnerID=8YFLogxK
