This article focuses on finding solutions which allow the detection and classification of household sounds with two clearly defined objectives: 1) Helping people with hearing impairment to overcome daily situations which they have to deal with, such as warnings/alarms, door bells or telephones ringing, alarm clocks, etc. 2) To collect information from the environment which may be used to track the behavior pattern of an individual. %~
