RT Conference Proceedings T1 SUSTAINABILITY POTENTIAL ASSESSMENT OF BIOETHANOL AND BIODIESEL SIDE-STREAMS INNOVATIVE VALORISATION APPROACHES THROUGH A BATTELLE METHOD INSPIRED MULTICRITERIA DECISION ANALYSIS FRAMEWORK A1 Macias Aragonés, Marta A1 Ondrejíčková, Petra A1 Amat Guasch, Elisabet A1 Arroyo Torralvo, Fátima AB The paper focused on the sustainability potential evaluation of a group of innovative bioethanol and biodiesel side-streams valorisation technologies developed on the laboratory scale in order to select the most feasible one for further technological upgrade. Environmental, economic and technical aspects need to be considered under a holistic and systemic approach that can support decision making. Therefore, a sustainability potential assessment framework has been developed (inspired by the Battelle Method and using insights from Multicriteria Decision Analysis) and validated. Specifically, 12 valorisation approaches for corn oil and rapeseed meal (side-streams from biorefineries) have been evaluated. The application of introduced methodology significantly supports the optimal selection of the advancing conversion technology in case of the biomass sustainability.
