A2 Solozabal, R. A2 Tanaka, M. AB A catalytic membrane has been developed to be used in the oxidation of a solution containing VOCs. The membrane is prepared by deposition of platinum on a porous γ-alumina layer. This layer is formed by the application of a bohemite solution on a commercial membrane. The characterisation of the membrane support has been studied by X-ray, IR and TGA methods. The metal deposition is carried out by wet impregnation. The characterisation of the amount of platinum in the membrane is performed by UV and ICP techniques, and the distribution of the metal over the support is studied by N 2 adsorption-desorption, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), XPS and TPR. Also, a fluidodynamic study of the permeation fluxes of gases and liquids is presented. The catalytic properties of the membrane have been tested in a catalytic membrane reactor where an aqueous VOCs solution has been oxidised. The results obtained have been compared with a conventional catalyst.
