T1 The powertrain domain in electric and hybrid vehicles

AB The electrification of road transport is opening new opportunities and challenges to the automotive industry. The design and development of high performance, low weight-size and cost, reliable, safe and high energy efficient electric/hybrid powertrains are crucial for the successful introduction of the new generation of electric and hybrid vehicles in the market. An overview of the electric/hybrid powertrain subsystems including its control functions is presented in this paper. In addition, some considerations for the design-development-testing through the V-model of the powertrain electronic control units are also outlined, where the current application standards and regulatory laws are reviewed.
