RT Conference Proceedings T1 Real-time display recognition system for visually impaired A1 Rasines, Irati A1 Iriondo, Pedro A1 Díez, Ibai AB Currently, electronic devices incorporating displays to present the information to the user are ubiquitous common, and visually impaired people might have problems to use these devices. This article focuses on developing a real time display detector and digital character recognition application using techniques based on the connected components approach. The display zone detection accuracy rate is about 85% and the recognition rate greater than 88%. The system was implemented on both a desktop and a cell phone.
