RT Journal Article T1 Los residuos industriales como reactivos para el secuestro de CO 2 T2 Industrial waste as reagents for CO2 sequestration A1 Yurramendi, Lourdes A1 Caballero, Susana A1 Del Río, Carmen AB Mineral carbonation is considered as a permanent and secure route for carbon dioxide sequestration. The application of the technology to industrial wastes is an alternative that could contribute to the decrease of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. The aim of the present work is to study the viability of CO2 storage by the treatment of the gas with different residues. The developed method called "direct gas-solid carbonation" is based on the uptake of CO2 by its reaction with the waste under controlled conditions of time and temperature. The design and implementation of an experimental system for the capture of CO2 gas by wastes has been carried out at laboratory level. The evaluation of the process has been made through the application of different methodologies for quantitative and structural analysis. The study has been applied to various typologies of residues such as air pollution control ashes from municipal solid waste incineration, the steel slags of electric arc furnace steelworks and the slags obtained from Waelz process.
