Abstract
This paper summarizes current joining techniques of flat and long products. Some examples are given of joining techniques being used in the construction of two civil works structures (KURSAAL and PASAJES HARBOUR), as well as faults more often found during the carrying out of pertinent checks. The latest tendencies in joining technologies in this field are also discussed, emphasizing the application of structural adhesives, showing comparative study of the mechanical behaviour of adhesively bonded joints in different materials subjected to cyclical ageing conditions and fatigue results with and without welds compared with fatigue tests of welded tests.
