Abstract
In this paper, a crowdsensing and Indirect Structural Health Monitoring (iSHM) strategy is presented within the framework of the FUTURAL project. This development was based on the hypothesis that regular “health” inspections are not a realistic option in terms of cost and time. This iSHM strategy takes advantage of the dynamic responses of instrumented vehicles that monitor the “health” of roads or bridges as they pass, based on data collected by on-board IoT sensors or smartphones, which can be temporarily installed on shared mobility vehicles according to user preferences or permanently installed in inspection vehicles covering a specific route. For other structures, with an extra focus on building health assessments, visual input/feedback will be collected from users’ smartphones. The proposed solution will allow monitoring of multiple buildings at a territorial level. The solution will be verified in rural areas in Spain (Durangaldea) and Austria (Pongau).
