dc.description.abstractBioceramics and bioceramic composites have been widely used for biomedical applications for the last 50 years. This chapter discusses the advantages of using ceramic nanocomposites. The application of both inert and bioactive ceramics for orthopaedic and dental implants, as well as in the novel field of tissue engineering, is discussed and future trends are presented.en
