Item Applying a model driven approach to an e-business environment(2006) Uriarte, Xabier Larrucea; Elguezabal, Gorka Benguria; Tecnalia Research & Innovation; HPATraditionally, the implementation of business processes in IT systems is based on the oral transmission of requirements between business and IT experts. This involves a high risk of misunderstanding and loss of information, which may result in the failure of the project, losing time and money. This paper presents the application of a MDA approach to bridge the gap between these domains, business and IT. This is done by applying of a set of automatic transformations, which ensure the coherence between business processes and IT systems. In addition, this paper concludes with several adoption problems and benefits of this approach.Item E-Business in the construction sector: A service oriented approach(Springer Verlag, 2009) Sánchez, Valentín; Angulo, Iñaki; Bilbao, Sonia; HPA; DIGITAL ENERGY; BIGDATAThe e-NVISION project (www.e-nvision.org) aims to develop and validate an innovative e-Business platform for the SMEs allowing them: to model and adapt in their organizations particular business scenarios requested by their customers and suppliers; to integrate all their enterprise applications following a service-oriented architecture; and to incorporate legal, economical and social services offered by external organizations. This paper provides an overview of the results of the project regarding the definition, implementation and validation of external and integration services within the e-Business platform. The overview includes details on the construction sector e-Business scenarios, the service-oriented techniques used, open issues surrounding actual implementations and applications, and the lessons learned in the field.Item From software-AS-A-GOOD TO SAAS: Challenges and needs: Developing a tool supported methodology for the migration of non-saas applications to SaaS(2011) Arrieta, Leire Orue Echevarria; Ibarra, Juncal Alonso; Jan, Gottschick; Restel, Hannes; Tecnalia Research & Innovation; HPAFor all software vendors, but especially small and medium ones and in the current downturn economic situation with such a high competition, businesses that are not prepared to migrate the offerings of their software solutions to the form of online-services not only miss the opportunity to acquire new customers but they also run the risk of losing their existing customers towards new competitors. This transition from a software-as-a-good approach to a software-as-a-service one, is not trivial at all, and there exists a real demand for proven methods to perform the transition from traditional software products to the service concept. Based on this premise, the objective of this position paper is to provide software organizations with a stepwise procedure, methods and tools to migrate non-SaaS applications into SaaS, taking into account not only technical and technological issues but also issues related to business models and how to monetize the final solution. The solution presented here is a theoretical approach that is currently being validated in eight use cases in the Basque Country.Item MDSOA quality evaluation(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2016-04-27) Larrucea, Xabier; Tecnalia Research & InnovationSoftware industry is living in a continuous evolution and revolution of new technologies in order to provide new ways for enabling interoperability among organisations. Such technologies are gaining relevance depending on their added value, and they are under an iterative capabilities improvement process. Model driven development (MDD) and Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) are some of these current trends in software engineering providing capabilities for enabling interoperability among stakeholders. Each approach highlights a set of benefits and they are combined providing a holistic approach of the used technologies. This paper evaluates quality aspects of a MDD and SOA combined approach, defines an ISO9126 evaluation process and outlines a research agenda using these technologies.Item Method engineering approach for interoperable systems development(2008-03) Larrucea, Xabier; Tecnalia Research & InnovationSoftware integration and interoperability of systems are becoming one of the primary subjects of business managers. Interoperability problems have been a specific problem of technical managers but the globalisation and the IT era have upgraded the problem to the business domain. Managers are conscious that this new era forces them to reuse functionalities and avoid new developments. However, in the cases where they need a new development they need to architect the foreseen solution with capabilities to add new integrations and new functionalities with the existing ones. Service-oriented architectures (SOAs) are deployed in a wide variety of organisations and it allows interoperability among stakeholders in order to improve their value chain and to provide better services to a wider range of customers. The evolution of technologies implies not only the adoption of new technologies or changes in these technologies but also in the organisation's culture, society and the emergence of new businesses. This evolution cannot be supported with the existing life cycles and tools. They need a methodological support and a development of appropriate tools. In this article, we present a specific method engineering approach for the construction of interoperable systems based on MDA and SOA paradigms.Item Modelling and deploying security policies(2009) Larrucea, Xabier; Alonso, Rubén; Tecnalia Research & InnovationWeb Services (WS) platform is one of the most widely accepted implementations of Service OrientedArchitectures (SOA). There is a huge amount of specifications related to the so-called WS-*. In this context Security Policies specification and deployment support is still immature and it needs improvement. This paper is focused on the growing importance of security, the increase of collaboration amongst organizations and the emergent need of modelling SOA and security aspects. This paper presents a methodology and modelling framework based on Eclipse platform for designing security aspects in SOA and a derivation mechanism in order to automatically generate web service security elements. This approach is illustrated with an example.
