Item GIS-3D Platform to Help Decision Making for Energy Rehabilitation in Urban Environments(2019-06-21) Izkara, Jose Luis; Egusquiza, Aitziber; Villanueva, A.; Tecnalia Research & Innovation; LABORATORIO DE TRANSFORMACIÓN URBANAOne of the main current challenges of European cities is to become energy self-sufficient entities. One of the vectors for this challenge is to improve the energy efficiency of the buildings and to promote the generation of renewable energies in the urban environment. The article describes a tool based on GIS-3D technologies to support the identification of the energy rehabilitation potential of neighbourhoods based on the introduction of renewable energies. The platform is based on a urban 3D model that collects the geometry of buildings, together with relevant information for the identification of rehabilitation opportunities (e.g. surfaces, heights, orientations and slopes). The project includes the generation of a cloud-based repository, which incorporates active and passive innovative solutions with metrics that allow the comparison of the solutions and the applicability of them to the real environment. The identification of rehabilitation opportunities combines information resulting from the diagnosis of the current energy performance of the district's buildings with the potential for renewable generation in the area. A multicriteria analysis process facilitates the identification of the most appropriate rehabilitation solutions for the analysed environment based on different criteria as energy, cost or applicability. The result can be visualized through a web tool that combines 2D and 3D information, with comparative information in a quantitative and geo-referenced manner. The flexibility of the architecture allows the application of the same approach to different urban challenges as the application of energy conservation measures to protected historic urban areas.Item SOLUTIONS FOR DIGITISATION AND PREFABRICATION IN THE ENERGY REFURBISHMENT OF BUILDINGS(2020-02) Tellado-Laraudogoitia, Nagore; Lasarte, Natalia; Macías, Olga; Iturralde, Kepa; Bock, Thomas; Sebesi, Yvon; Tecnalia Research & Innovation; E&I SEGURAS Y RESILIENTES; EDIFICACIÓN DE ENERGÍA POSITIVAThe objective of this study is to evaluate the practical application of a digital process for the buildings’ energy rehabilitation using prefabricated modules. The literature is extensive in this aspect, numerous technologies are mentioned for the digitalization of buildings’ rehabilitation process (BIM, laser scanner, drones, etc.), and there are also many prefabricated products for rehabilitation, but its introduction in the market is still very limited. This is due in part to the uncertainty in its practical application, and the difficulties that may entail changing processes, digitizing them, and integrating innovations in a sector as conservative as construction. Within BERTIM project, prefabricated wooden modules that integrate both carpentry and HVAC distribution networks and a methodology for the energy rehabilitation of buildings through a digitalized process have been developed. These developments have been implemented in two buildings which has allowed to identify the main barriers and difficulties that construction companies encounter in the execution. The main difficulties are: i) the method of capturing building data for the generation of its BIM model, ii) the integration of the HVAC distribution networks into the modules iii) the installation procedure of the modules on the existing building façade so that minimum execution times are ensured even in façades with many deviations and a large lack of verticality. This study addresses these difficulties and proposes practical solutions that will allow industrials to implement digital processes and will foster the use of prefabricated modules in the buildings’ energy rehabilitation.
