Item DECIDE: DevOps for Trusted, Portable and Interoperable Multi-cloud Applications Towards the Digital Single Market(Springer, 2019) Orue-Echevarria, Leire; Alonso, Juncal; Escalante, Marisa; Stefanidis, Kyriakos; Blasi, Lorenzo; Franch, Xavier; Männistö, Tomi; Martínez-Fernández, Silverio; Tecnalia Research & Innovation; HPA; CIBERSEC&DLTThe transformation from a product to service economy means that companies need to become software service providers as well as consumers. Cloud enables greater business agility by making IT infrastructure more flexible. The current trends of deploying applications following a hybrid cloud, multi-cloud or cross-cloud architecture, as well as the design, development and operation of multi-cloud native applications based on microservices present several challenges for their developers and operators. This paper presents a solution implemented in the context of the European project DECIDE which aims to support DevOps teams in the design, pre-deployment, contracting, deployment and operation of multi-cloud native applications with the provisioning of an integrated framework. The project is entering its late phase, in which the DevOps framework is currently being validated and evaluated in various use cases.Item Federated cloud service broker (FCSB): An advanced cloud service intermediator for public administrations(SciTePress, 2017) Ibarra, Juncal Alonso; Orue-Echevarria, Leire; Escalante, Marisa; Benguria, Gorka; Echevarria, Gorka; Cardoso, Jorge; Munoz, Victor Mendez; Pahl, Claus; Cardoso, Jorge; Helfert, Markus; Ferguson, Donald; HPA; Tecnalia Research & Innovation; CIBERSEC&DLTA cloud services brokerage is third-party software that adds value to cloud services on behalf of cloud service consumers. Their goal is to make the services more specific to a company, or to integrate or aggregate services, to enhance their security, or to do anything which adds a significant layer of value (i.e. capabilities) to the original cloud services being offered (Plummer, 2012). There exist several solutions focused on providing service brokerage of Cloud Service Providers (CSP), mainly VM's and virtualized resources, but not of other services offered (e.g. Data Processing as a Service) or SaaS applications which are certified and legally compliant. This paper proposes a solution for a Federated Cloud Service Broker (FCSB) overcoming existing challenges in the public sector such as Governance, Interoperability and portability, SLAs compliance and assessment, Intelligent discovery of cloud services, cross border interoperability and legislation awareness . The analysis of the existing solutions, and the presentation of the approach made in (Alonso, et al., 2016) is complemented with a technical design including the main functionalities and the modules that will implement them.
